The Application Process

The National History Academy is designed for highly motivated rising 10th, 11th and 12th grade students from across the nation who already possess a basic knowledge of American history.

The Application Process

  • Apply for admission. Students who would like to apply for financial aid should indicate this on their application. Academy staff will contact these families directly for financial information.
  • Some students may be asked to participate in a brief phone interview.
  • Students who are accepted are notified and invited to register. Students who qualify for need-based financial aid will be notified at the same time.
  • Tuition is paid in full OR a deposit is paid and a payment schedule set up.

Applications will open on November 1, 2019, and the final application deadline is April 30, 2020.  The Academy receives many more applications than spaces available, so the earlier you submit your application, the better your chance for admission.

How to Apply

Students who are interested in attending should apply by submitting an application which includes GPA, test scores, and a short essay. We also recommend including a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, principal, or community leader, but this is not required. Some students may also need to participate in a brief phone interview.

Applications will be reviewed by a committee and judged on the maturity of response. Students whose applications are successful will be invited to register for the National History Academy.
