Proudly Supported by Ken Burns

National History Academy – Summer 2019 Recruitment Promo featuring Ken Burns from National History Academy on Vimeo.

National History Academy is thrilled to have the support of Ken Burns, documentary filmmaker. Ken Burns has produced over 28 documentaries, focused on great American stories including The Civil War, The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, and Thomas Jefferson. Through his unique approach to storytelling, he takes his viewers to the places where these stories unfolded.

“For almost forty years, I’ve been telling stories about the people, places and events that have shaped who we are as Americans. The National History Academy is a new and exciting initiative for high school students that takes a fresh approach to telling many of these same stories,” said Burns.

The National History Academy will expand on these moments in history and allow students to visit the very places where they happened. Among your many immersive experiences, you will stroll through National Parks, visit Gettysburg and nearby sacred battlefields of the Civil War, as well as many Presidential homes, including George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, and James Madison’s Montpelier.
