National History Academy: St. John’s Church and Yorktown

Today we left on our first overnight trip! We started out by visiting the historic St Johns Church in Richmond, Virginia to watch a re-enactment of the Second Virginia Convention, at which Patrick Henry infamously declared “give me liberty or give me death.” Students participated in the re-enactment and enjoyed meeting and taking pictures with the actors.

Next, we headed to the Yorktown Battlefield where we received a guided tour of the battlefield and museum. Students were able to hold model weapons used in the revolutionary war and recreated the British surrender that ended the war. We finished off the night with dinner at colonial-style taverns, with live music, in Williamsburg!
